"Going Home" by Sunshine Monk

"Going Home" by Sunshine Monk

This weekend is our third Come and See Vocation Weekend this year.  It is always so exciting to have women visit us.  I am often quite busy and find it refreshing to be able to slow down for a weekend and share the Bon Secours Ministries with women who are either interested in learning about vocations, or women who have decided to become a Sister, but are searching for the right congregation.

My assistant, Sunshine, has decorated our meeting room with brilliant autumn colors, and leaves.  The printed theme for this Come and See relates to God lighting a spark within us, much like He does in the autumn foliage around us.  All surrounding the Marriottsville House, the trees are turning vibrant shades of gold, rust, red, and orange.  It is truly incendiary, and there is no denying that only God could paint a picture this breathtaking.

The same is true in our lives.  Our hearts are filled with a love that only He can create.  I hope that this weekend provides our participants with a true sense of how wonderful that love is and how vibrant it colors our lives and ultimately the lives of those around us.

We began our weekend a bit early, as yesterday I was able to take the women down to Richmond, VA to tour our hospital facility there.  It was quite an experience, and we were able to meet up with some of the Sisters and learn about their specific ministries.

This morning, we took a tour of both the Baltimore Bon Secours Hospital and the Bon Secours Foundation.  Thanks to everyone who has really helped to make these tours meaningful to us!

Tonight, the real journey begins.  Several of the Sisters will be visiting with us this weekend to share their stories about community life, ministries, and prayer.  We will also have personal reflection time, some group discussions and time to explore the glorious grounds at the Provincial House.  Again, I am so excited to be able to share with these women the history of Bon Secours, our charism – Healing, Compassion, and Liberation – and to share about my own journey to religious life.

Say a prayer for us!

They say the opposite of war is not love…it is PEACE.  And I have to say that this video, actually it is a trailer for an independent film, certainly brings light to how strongly we should be waging a campaign for Peace.  What do you think? Here is an excerpt from the Global Zero website: [...]
