Sports fan, Sr. Mary Shimo, shows hometown support

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

2009.10.19 Shimo2Having always been a Baltimore fan, Sr. Mary Shimo has turned her lifelong allegiance of the Baltimore Colts and Orioles more directly towards the Baltimore Ravens.  While this is the first ever Ravens game that Sr. Mary attended, she enthusiastically and faithfully watches the Ravens games each week, often knitting while watching plays.

Haven’t seen you since 10/18/1977 when God led the doctors to save my son Ben, and you to save my sanity. Good to see you looking well on your website. Question, please ? You’re the only nun still alive, whom I can ask: IN 1940, a 10-year-old Cajun country girl, suddenly a Woman, vows that she will marry the boy she has just met, and bear his children. To which of the Saints would she pray ? In my book she’s a good person with a mostly-terrible life; but at age 50, married to the man, and in a State of Grace, lies happy in hospital, unaware that she is dying and that her baby has already died within her.
It’s an odd question. If you don’t reply I’ll understand. Bill Bizzell
