U.S. CATHOLIC BISHOPS FOCUS ON LANDMARK VOCATIONS STUDY

Executive Director of National Religious Vocation Conference provides bishops
with major findings on vocation trends


Bishops asked to meet with religious leaders in their dioceses; speak often of vocations;
establish
religious life component in diocesan vocation offices

Baltimore, Nov. 18, 2009—The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, gathered in Baltimore for their annual meeting, invited Holy Cross Brother Paul Bednarczyk, Executive Director of the Chicago-based National Religious Vocation Conference (NRVC), to present the results of the NRVC’s landmark Study on Recent Vocations to Religious Life, published this past August.  

Bednarczyk outlined the study’s key findings including the need for collaborative efforts with dioceses, Catholic educators, and families in creating a culture of vocation within the Church. OF THE CONGREGATION OF THE SISTERS OF BON SECOURS

MARRIOTTSVILLE, Md.—The Congregation of the Sisters of Bon Secours elected Sister Patricia A. Eck, C.B.S., of the United States its new Congregation Leader during its 2009 General Chapter meeting in Rome. This international Congregation, comprised of Sisters from five countries (The United States, France, Great Britain, Ireland and Peru), is transitioning to a new organizational structure by eliminating provinces and functioning as one international entity under Sr. Pat’s leadership.  

A new Congregation Team also was elected to serve with Sr. Pat. Newly appointed Country Leaders include Sr. Rose Marie Jasinski, C.B.S., from the U.S.A.; Sr. Marie Ryan, C.B.S., from Ireland; Sr. Ann Morrison, C.B.S, from Great Britain; and Sr. Rosalinda Pajuelo Urena, C.B.S., from Peru. This new international Leadership Team will work to unite the Sisters worldwide around a new governance structure.

SISTERS OF BON SECOURS NAME SR. ROSE MARIE JASINSKI
TO SERVE AS COUNTRY LEADER FOR UNITED STATES

MARRIOTTSVILLE, Md.—The Congregation of the Sisters of Bon Secours at its General Chapter in Rome elected Sr. Rose Marie Jasinski, C.B.S., to its Congregation Team. Sr. Rose Marie also will serve as Country Leader for the United States. The Congregation is transitioning to a new organizational structure by eliminating provinces and functioning as one international entity, uniting Sisters internationally around a new governance structure. Sr. Rose Marie chaired the Governance Committee of the Congregation as this new organizational structure was created for the Congregation.

Sr. Rose Marie is currently the Senior Vice President of Sponsorship for Bon Secours Health System serving local health systems in Kentucky at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital and in South Carolina at St. Francis hospitals. Sr. Rose Marie’s professional career has included ministries in nursing in Bon Secours hospitals, as both a staff nurse and head nurse, as well as and serving as director of Bon Secours Home Hospice Program in Baltimore, Md.
