The Sisters of Bon Secours have released their latest video, A Mission of Hope and Healing in South Africa, to show others the dramatic needs of the South African people. These are people faced with hunger, malnutrition and even starvation. They also suffer from HIV/AIDS and there is an overwhelming population of orphans. The Bon Secours sisters in South Africa provide care to many with these devastating needs while sharing their love of God in everything they do.

Their ministry began in the village of Limpopo, South Africa in June of 2008. In 2010, two sisters from the United States, Sister Vicky Segura, CBS, MD and Sister Elaine Davia, CBS, NP traveled there to assist with medical and nutritional needs. The sisters utilized their medical skills to assist many HIV/AIDS patients and were also able to help refugees, families and orphans with basic needs in the village. They share inspiring stories from their journey in this short video.

In addition to the sisters’ work in their HIV/AIDS clinic and in outreach to the people … continue reading…

Am here in the square of neptune w/ the million for the Pope’s welcome of young adults representing all parts of the world – pretty awesome – they are everywhere in the streets sitting and waving flags and singing and clapping.

I’m no where near where the Pope is in the plaza cibalis. The music is wonderful.

He’s supposed to drive near here tho in his Pope mobile.

Sisters Elena and Rosa came to help at the booth.

We have young women fm France, England, Peru, and USA who have signed up asking for info!! Too bad we aren’t in Australia, Poland, or some of the Asian or other African countries who asked if we were in their countries.

Gotta say there’s nothing like being in a young crowd like this to give u hope for the church.

Even had 2 young doctors fm New Zealand and a pharmacist ask about volunteering in the USA.

Its beastly hot tho – and the booth is outside so it takes a lot of you.

Pope is greeting all – this must be the 10th + language now.

Keep us in prayer … continue reading…

U.S. Bishops to Hold Vocations Fair at World Youth Day

WASHINGTON—The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) will host its first-ever Vocation Fair at a World Youth Day (WYD) on Wednesday, August 17. The Vocations Fair will be held at St. Francis Borgia Parish (Parroquia San Francisco de Borja) located just across the street from the U.S. Embassy in Madrid. The fair is co-sponsored by the USCCB Secretariat of Clergy, Consecrated Life and Vocations (CCLV) and the Secretariat for Laity, Marriage, Family Life, and Youth.

“This is a tremendous opportunity to invite our youth to open their hearts to Christ and respond to his call to the priesthood and the consecrated life,” said Archbishop Robert Carlson of St. Louis, Missouri, chairman of the CCLV Committee.  Recent surveys of the newly ordained and those making their final religious profession indicate that at least 20 percent of them participated in a World Youth Day at one time or another. “We are very grateful to the … continue reading…
