FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Oct. 2, 2009

SISTERS OF BON SECOURS NAME SR. ROSE MARIE JASINSKI
TO SERVE AS COUNTRY LEADER FOR UNITED STATES

MARRIOTTSVILLE, Md.—The Congregation of the Sisters of Bon Secours at its General Chapter in Rome elected Sr. Rose Marie Jasinski, C.B.S., to its Congregation Team. Sr. Rose Marie also will serve as Country Leader for the United States. The Congregation is transitioning to a new organizational structure by eliminating provinces and functioning as one international entity, uniting Sisters internationally around a new governance structure. Sr. Rose Marie chaired the Governance Committee of the Congregation as this new organizational structure was created for the Congregation.

Sr. Rose Marie is currently the Senior Vice President of Sponsorship for Bon Secours Health System serving local health systems in Kentucky at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital and in South Carolina at St. Francis hospitals. Sr. Rose Marie’s professional career has included ministries in nursing in Bon Secours hospitals, as both a staff nurse and head nurse, as well as and serving as director of Bon Secours Home Hospice Program in Baltimore, Md.

Currently serving on the Leadership Team of the United States province, Sr. Rose Marie has held various positions, including Vice President of the province, Candidacy Program Director, Formation Director and Director of the Associate Ministry Program. She also chaired the Sisters’ 175th Anniversary celebration for the Sisters of Bon Secours, USA.  She serves on the Mercy Housing board of directors and is a member of Bon Secours Ministries, the sponsoring entity for Bon Secours Health System.

“The Sisters in the United States are pleased and grateful for our Country Leader, Sr. Rose Marie Jasinski. She has demonstrated through the years her compassion, caring and leadership to Sisters and all others. Sr. Rosemary brings creativity and vitality to this new ministry,” says Sr. Alice Talone, C.B.S., current president of the Sisters of Bon Secours, USA.

After graduating from the Bon Secours School of Nursing in 1963, Sr. Rose Marie entered the community in 1965. She received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University and a master’s degree in Christian spirituality from Creighton University in Omaha, Neb.

Other Congregation Team members elected  at the General Chapter include  Sr. Marie Ryan, C.B.S., from Ireland; Sr. Ann Morrison, C.B.S., from Great Britain; and Sr. Rosalinda Pajuelo Urena, C.B.S., from Peru. Sr. Patricia A. Eck, C.B.S., from the United States was elected the new Congregation Leader.

The Congregation of the Sisters of Bon Secours (www.bonsecours.org) , a religious congregation of Roman Catholic women founded in Paris in 1824, brings compassion, healing and liberation to those it serves, especially those who are sick, suffering, poor or dying. Whether in health care, education or social services, in hospitals, senior care facilities, clinics or parishes, in towns and cities or isolated villages, Bon Secours responds to a universal need: to provide to all who suffer a reason to live and a reason to hope.

Sr Rosie, John and I were so pleased to read about your appointment. We must get back in touch, it has been too long. When others are retiring, you seem to be adding more and more to your plate. JRS

Sr. Rosie,

So happy to read about your appointment. I do miss my times at Bon Secours. Not sure if you remember me but I did massages at the Associates Retreats. I’ve since gone into the ministry. I always check the website when I can. During my next visit to Maryland I would love to stop by the center and see all the changes.
God’s Blessings on you and your work.

James Martin, SJ quickly tell us, “…this book…is not a guide to understand everything about everything (thus the Almost). Rather, it’s a guide to discovering how God can be found in every dimension of your life. How God can be found in everything. Sr. Pat says: HI Dionna, thank you for your comment. YOu are right, Church law requires that one be age 18 minimally, though most ocmmunities prefer that someone wait until they are at least age 21. One reason is the need for sufficient maturity, so that one understands what they are choosing and also "not" choosing. read more...
